초록: This series of lectures will be given to students with modest background. We first introduce a notion of non-negative polynomials (NP) and some historical background briefly. Next we consider sums of squares (SOS) polynomials as one of the main certificates for non-negativity and classical results of Hilbert concerning these notions. Recent results on the cone description of NPs and SOS will be also presented. We treat some examples and applications in the midst of lectures.
